"Notes From Academe" columns
from Camp Windsor Hill
|
From 1993 until July of 1998, I contributed columns to a feature called "Notes from Academe" in The Chronicle of Higher Education. Four of the columns were datelined "Camp Windsor Hill":
- "The Memories That Matter From Many Summers in a Maine Cottage," published August 9, 1996. (This column includes a description of the house, and some information about its history.)
- "On Rangeley Lake: the Leisure to Learn From What Is Around You," published August 11, 1995.
- "Remembering a Year's Worth of Teachers, Students, Etc.," published August 10, 1994.
- "What Nostalgia Whispers: Summer's Evocations of Childhood Pleasures," published August 7, 1998.
Although it's not technically a Camp Windsor Hill column, devotees will appreciate a column about the Wire Bridge, in New Portland, that was published on November 3, 1993.
